Welcome to 'Of Road and Sea',

the first comprehensive travel guide

for the Mozambique coastline,

brought to you free by

Divers eCo operation

Within these pages our aim is to give you all the information necessary, to make an informed decision on where is best suited, for your holiday along this extensive pristine coastline. We have designed the pages so that they can be printed off, without the menus or images hindering the information, this way you won't waste ink or paper. You can then take the relevant guide on your trip and if you need to update it, just pop into a local internet cafe. Even if you are not intending to spend time in this country, or you are a business traveller, we hope you will find this information both stimulating and useful

Starting the journey in May 2005 we spent 3 months driving over 10,000km up and down Mozambique's coast in order to investigate and report back our findings. The result is a unique e-guide, not a book on the shelf, but a guide that will evolve with time as the country develops

Mile after mile opened up this unspoilt beautiful country and the further northwards we travelled, the more endeared we became. Despite myths that Mozambique is hard to travel, isolated and dangerous, our experiences soon dispelled any concerns we had. Surprisingly, we found decent roads in most areas and the Mozambican people very hospitable. They have a willingness to befriend, eagerness to please and a sincerity that makes you feel welcome. However, there were difficult aspects to this venture, this is a developing country which is overcoming a turbulent past and we feel that we have reported these obstacles in the following pages with honesty

One big concern of ours is the negative impact of tourism at the moment. In a country where tourism is nature based and relies upon a very fragile eco-system, our wish would have been to see more responsible foreign developments, as an example for both the local community and the world. This is not to say, there are no developments of this kind. Where we have found an ecologically sound establishment, so we have highlighted this. When choosing your holiday destination in any part of the world, we hope you will take this into consideration

Your comments and suggestions will be most welcome, if you feel we have missed or incorrectly printed any information, please write to us via the Contact Us page and we will revise this.
