Ponta Mamoli Resort has charm, great food and a very welcome reception as well as a responsible social and ecological approach.
White Sands in Barra Peninsula has been taken over by Margaret and we found it had immediately acquired a charming and personalised atmosphere.
Casa Rex is a delightful small guest house with great views to the bay and Islands.
In this sector the option are narrow and Hotel Seta is the best option within Inhasorro but for the adventurous we certainly recommend Bartolomeu Dias Point for camping or keep an eye on the new lodge opening close to the Point called, B.D. Lodge.
Villa Nagardas in Quelimane is a well presented and very comfortable quest house.
Casa Branca is a simple and lovely guest house in a refurbished colonial house, it is owned by Flora an active lady who is concerned with social issues on Mozambique Island. Overlooking Nacala Bay there is a new place that will soon open called Bonito Lodge and Kualala Lodge owned by Shirley and Mike. Bay Diving in Nacala Bay has very nice bay views to appreciate the stunning sunsets in a relaxing setting.
Pangane Point is not an easy place to reach but once there it is pure, idyllic pleasure, Hashimi's Place
is right at the point and it is very simple, but has all you will need for a memorable stay.
In Pemba, Russell's Camp Site is basic but the atmosphere is great.
Bela Vista Guest House on Ibo Island is based in a large and typical colonial house, the food is great and
the atmosphere is very relaxed.
The Aurora project - Monte Puez, a short drive from Pemba, is a fantastic social initiative worth visiting
and supporting. They sell the most delicious mango conserves, essential oils, vinegars and a range of
homemade products.
Have a treat and a laugh at Café del Mar's animated restaurant and bar. This can go on into the wee hours, so be warned, don't plan to do much the next day.
Casa de Comer is a great French/Mozambican/Namibian restaurant located at the popular Tofo beach in
Inhambane Province.
Or dance the night away at Dino's Bar full moon party.
In Inhambane, 'Zoom', is a local disco with good music and atmosphere, for late nights.
Order in advance with Rosa and Chris at the Baobab Lodge and enjoy a delicious homemade typical Mozambican meal and while you're there visit the Cultural Centre created by the couple.
Hotel Seta is the best option here for the time being. But our recommendation is to get some cold drinks into the cooler and take a walk along the stunning 33km of Inhasorro beach or drive the back road and sit on Bartholomeu Dias Point with a cold one (check the tide times for this trip as the road floods).
Restaurant, Bar Pizzeria Estação serves authentic Italian pizza and good choices of wine.
Escondidinho Guest House offers lovely and original meals. There is also a place called Bar Paladar, a simple local bar at the Market also in Mozambique Island that serves superb Mozambican food.
Black Foot Bar serves simple but very nice buffet most nights and Pizza on Monday nights (light lunch
only), it is the place to meet people and know what is happening in the area.
Toma e Vai is the place to have cheap and delicious pasta cooked by the two Italians (turned Mozambicans)
friends.
For a more sophisticated and very well served Italian bonanza try Aquila Romana in Wimbe Beach, Pemba.
Swim with the dolphins on a responsible program with Dolphin Encountours.
In season, take boat rides and snorkel with the Whale Sharks or spot the Humpback Whales, this is offered by most Dive Operators in Sector 2.
A Dhow trip, as long or as short, as you like can be arranged with David at Sailaway Dhow Safaris for island hopping and snorkelling trips.
The sunset at the Bartolomeu Dias Point is beautiful, a lovely 33km 4x4 road between sand dunes and mangroves will take you there.
For real off-road lovers the forest and local villages surrounding Moebase, as well in and around the Gile Reserve, are a special treat just be prepared for a long trip, check out Roads and Services Sector 6, for more info.
The sun set over Nacala Bay is breath taking. So are the granite Iselbergs around Nampula.
Dhow trips can be arranged from Pemba that will take you from Ibo island to Pangane (island hopping on the way) it is worth spending at least 4/5 days on this journey.
Bass City is an easy and very enjoyable dive, but do not miss the Pinnacles if your level of experience is up for it.
Dive Manta Reef is a must if you are in the area, but Giant's Castle is also an excellent site to spot Mantas (and much more). With good visibility The Office may be challenging for inexperienced divers but is an exceptional dive.
We recommend Jake's Crack, Jake and Veronica from Island Stile diving in Morrungulo know it very well. Further up north at the Bazaruto National Park we would recommend the Two Mile Reef dive site or around Sao Sebastian for more experienced divers.
Unfortunately were unable to dive in this sector and there are no dive centres operating here at the moment.
Diving in this area is not easy, there are no operators and the waters are turbid during half of the year. We heard there are good diving spots around Moma Island and Fogo Island, but we had no opportunity to confirm this.
The NUFR is a superb dive site inside of Nacala Bay. Paradise is also worth checking out, for a lot of life and great coral variety in the bay.
The Drop off was a surprise, so close to the shore, so beautiful, exciting and full of life. The Gap is an adrenaline driven and dramatic kind of dive for good experienced divers.
