Comments: Along this beach there is a long and wide row of old pine trees - planted about 400 years ago by the Portuguese to indicate the presence of fresh water inland. The trees give an unusual European feel to this picturesque beach. The water is also darkened by the affluence of the great Zambezi River mouth, a few kilometers north. Local families come down to this beach from Quelimane on weekends. There are a few 'barracas' selling cold drinks and foods under the shade of the pine trees

Sangage Light House, 'Farol', Sangage Beach, Angoche District

Contact Details: There are no means of pre-communication with the Lghthouse Keeper
Website: Not available
Comments: A recommended place of great beauty. Here it is possible to camp under the mango tree, at the foot of the imposing black & white Lighthouse, overlooking the turquoises bay below. The Lighthouse Keeper (Mr. Manema Aputala) lives in a small building adjacent to the Farol with his wife and children. They may join you around the fire for supper. They rent out one of the Lighthouse' rooms, a plain and safe shelter - not for comfort. The hosts will arrange a guard for cars (Salima Aputala was our trusty guard). There's no electricity and only the local borehole water for bathing and cooking. A short walk down the hill or a bumpy drive leads to the fishing village along a beautiful beach, excellent for bathing and snorkeling
